JavaFX, a competitor to Adobe Flex/Flash and Microsoft Silverlight, is a platform for building RIAs (Rich Internet Applications)—including rich GUIs, audio, video and animations—for the Web. It can also be used for creating interactive content and applications for mobile devices and set-top boxes. JavaFX is comprised of JavaFX Script and JavaFX Mobile. The JavaFX Script Programming Language uses the Java2D Swing GUI components for creating GUIs. JavaFX Mobile is a pre-integrated software system for designing rich content and network-based services for mobile devices.
