| Google's Summer of Code 2006 introduces college undergraduate and graduate students to the world of open source programming by providing them with stipends to create their own open source applications or contribute to existing projects. Participating organizations post project ideas. Students write proposals for the projects, which are then reviewed and accepted or rejected by the participating organizations. Students who are accepted are assigned a mentor at the participating organization and they are provided with feedback on the project in the middle and end of the summer. Final projects are posted on the Google site. Visit this page to see the list of over 80 organizations participating in Google Summer of Code 2006. |
