Sun Certified Enterprise Architect (SCEA) certification is for enterprise architects who develop and design Java EE compliant applications. You must be a Sun Certified Java Programmer before taking this exam.  
 
Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer

Sun Certified Mobile Application Developer (SCMAP) certification is for developers who create applications using Java technologies for mobile devices. You must be a Sun Certified Java Programmer before taking this exam.  
 
Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services

Sun Certified Developer for Java Web Services (SCDJWS) certification is for developers who use Java for web services applications. You must be a Sun Certified Java Programmer before taking this exam. Sun Certified Java Associate

Sun Certified Java Associate (SCJA) is the first step in Java certification. Passing this exam certifies that a programmer has basic knowledge in object-oriented concepts and the Java programming language, and has knowledge of Java technologies and platforms. Purchase the exam at: http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-019.xml. For anyone outside the United States a link is provided to help locate a local training center.  
 
Sun Certified Java Programmer

Sun Certified Java Programmer (SCJP) certifies that a programmer is proficient in the fundamentals of the Java programming language. There are four exams to choose from but it is only necessary to pass one of the following to receive this certification: SCJP for the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition 5 (http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-055.xml); SCJP for for the Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition 5 upgrade exam (http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-056.xml); SCJP for Java 2 Platform 1.4 (http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-035.xml); and SCJP for Java 2 Platform upgrade exam (http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-036.xml). Details for each exam include testing centers, prerequisites, type of exam (e.g., multiple choice), number of questions, what the passing score is, time limit of the exam, and the languages (i.e., English, Chinese, Japanese, etc.) in which the test is available.  
 
Sun Certified Java Developer

Sun Certified Java Developer (SCJD) certifies that a developer has advanced knowledge in the Java programming language using the standard edition. The certification is in two parts including a programming assignment and an essay exam. The first part (http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-252A.xml) explains the developer assignment, the nature of the assignment, the scale and scope of the assignment, scoring, the categories and maximum points, and the APIs relevant to the assignment. The second part (http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/courses/CX-310-027.xml) must be taken at a testing center; details include prerequisites, number of questions, passing score and length of time for the exam. 
 
Sun Certified Web Component Developer

Sun Certified Web Component Developer (SCWCD) certification is for developers using JavaServer Pages and servlet technologies in web services and dynamic web content. You must be a Sun Certified Java Programmer before taking this exam. 
 
Sun Certified Business Component Developer

Sun Certified Business Component Developer (SCBCD) certification is for Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) developers who design, develop, test, deploy and integrate EJB applications. You must be a Sun Certified Java Programmer before taking this exam.
