| Social Graph Resource Center | |
| Welcome to the Social Graph Resource Center. The social graph is a phenomenon of nature, the mapping of connections and relationships among people worldwide. This Resource Center focuses on the social graph and its relationship to social networks, such as Facebook, MySpace and others. Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook, defines the social graph as a network of connections through which people communicate and share information. Facebook's April 2007 announcement of the Facebook Developer Platform brought the social graph and building social applications to the forefront of web development. In October 2007, Google responded to Facebook's initiative with its announcement of OpenSocial, a common set of APIs for social networking applications, which are portable on any social network that is a partner of OpenSocial. This may lead to an open social graph on the web, which would create exciting possibilities for application developers and probably some controversy, especially regarding privacy issues. Start your search here for social graph articles, blogs, videos, developer resources and more. In the Social Graph Resource Center you'll find links to:
- Information on opening the social graph, privacy issues, identity systems, business opportunities, protocols, standards and more.
- Resources on OpenID—a decentralized sign-in system for web services, which allows users to control their social graph and help manage their networks of relationships.
