Preface- p. XLIX: Typo. The CD contains IBM WebSphere Voice Server version 2.0, not version 1.5.
Chapter 1 - p. 32: The answer for Exercise 1.5a is "introspection," however this chapter does not discuss introspection. Replace the question with:
Objects are containers for values and ________ are names that reference objects.
Chapter 4Chapter 5- p. 178: Figure caption should state, "Passing lists and individual list elements to functions."
- p. 184: Figure caption should state, "Double-scripted lists."
Chapter 6- The line numbers on pages 206 and 208 that refer to Fig. 6.6 are off by one line.
- p. 207: Remove the last quotation mark on line 37.
Chapter 7Chapter 8- p. 271: Typo. Replace !+ with !=.
Chapter 10- p. 377: Typo. Replace # Fig. 11.21: fig11_21.py with # Fig. 10.21: fig10_21.py.
Chapter 13- p. 442: Typo. Last quotation mark on line 21 should be colored blue.
Chapter 14- p. 473: Typo. Keyword break on line 13 should be colored blue.
Chapter 17- p. 597: The field names in screenshot Fig. 17.27 should start with uppercase letters (e.g., authorID should be AuthorID).
- The Linux version of fig17_27.py contains an error. Linux users should download the updated file.
- p. 602: Typo. The column names of the AddressBook database are:
FIRST_NAME, LAST_NAME, ADDRESS, CITY, STATE_PROVINCE, POSTAL_CODE, COUNTRY, EMAIL_ADDRESS, HOME_PHONE, FAX_NUMBER. The first paragraph of Section 17.8 references them incorrectly.
- The database setup files on the CD contain a few errors. Readers should download the updated files. The updated files include a version for Windows and for Linux platforms, and they should be used when installing the database for Chapters 17 and 23.
Chapter 18- p. 644: Exercise 18.3 should read, "... Run the command "cat ex18_03.py"."
- p. 644: Exercise 18.5 is only for UNIX\Linux users.
Chapter 19- p. 658: Typo. Line 7 of code should read, "Class that provides unsynchronized access to an integer."
- p. 662: Typo. Line 7 of code should read, "Class that provides synchronized access to an integer."
Chapter 20Chapter 21- p. 748: Typo. Replace "Line 34 gets the reference to the dictionary __dict__..." with "Line 36 gets the reference to the dictionary __dict__..."
Chapter 22- p. 776: Typo. In Part (a) of the diagram, replace _newNode with newNode. In Part (b) of the diagram, replace firstNode with _firstNode.
- p. 779: Typo. In Part (b) of the diagram, replace _currentNode with currentNode.
- p. 781: Typo. Figure caption should state, "Stack implementation-fig22_10.py."
- p. 783: Typo. Figure caption should state, "Queue implementation-fig22_12.py"
- p. 796: In Exercise 22.8, all instances of "queue" should be replaced with "built-in list."

Chapter 24- p. 870: Typo. In line 31, replace "black" with "white."
- p. 877: Typo. Insert a closing bracket ( ] ) at the end of the third paragraph.
- p. 877: The style of the code in Fig. 24.3 does not match the style of the code stored in the included Alice application file. However, the two scripts perform the same tasks.
- p. 891: Typo. Keyword break on line 57 should be colored blue.
Appendix G- p. 1053: Typo. Self-Review Exercise G.3. Replace "Identify each of the following as either an element or attribute" with "Identify each of the following as either a tag or an attribute."
